    Finance Associate

    Overview:

    The Finance Associate is responsible for supporting the finance and accounting teams accounting activities with general ledgers and journals, financial data and reporting, and various other financial and accounting activities. The Finance Associate role supports the state and region on all payment support matters. This includes ensuring invoices are properly coded and paid, as well as any necessary error resolution. The position also supports our vendors with accounts set up and maintenance, and invoice research as necessary. Also supports ongoing projects.

    Responsibilities:
    • Clarifies any questionable invoice items, prices, or receiving signatures; obtains proper information and/or data regarding invoice payments. Assembles invoices to be completed for payment.
      • Compares carious reports and journal entries to verify accuracy and prepares input forms to reconcile errors.
      • Calculates all extensions and totals on invoices, calculating and taking discounts when applicable; verifies all coding, reviews invoices and requisitions for satisfactory payment approval, checking vendor files for any previous payments; assigns voucher numbers. Maintains copies of vouchers, invoices, or correspondence necessary for files.
    • Supports processes which may include: monthly close, budgeting, invoice tracking, etc.
      • Calculates, posts business transactions, processed invoices, verifies financial data for use in maintaining accounting or financial records, and provides other clerical support necessary to pay the obligations of the organization.
      • Runs basic reports in various systems including operating expenses, revenue, profitability and variances.
    • Other duties, as assigned by the jobholders supervisor, may also be required.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in related field and/or equivalent training and work experience.
    • No prior experience required.
    • Basic PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including presentation software.
    • Must be results-oriented professional with verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as customer service skills.
    • Analytic and reporting skills.
    • Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment.
    • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines.

    Physical Requirements:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone.

    Competencies:

    • Accountable for meeting own targets, work is reviewed periodically.
    • Problems encountered will be defined, repetitive, and routing with a solution readily available.
