Tool Room Clerk

Job Summary

Performs duties to support assigned department by assembling tooling.

Job Duties

• Support lean initiatives (continuous improvement) and The House of Excellence
• Work collectively/collaboratively with all members of the organization
• Create job routing/bill of materials
• Verify process or modify for better efficiency/cost
• Determine whether to build tooling internally or purchase externally
• Maintain raw materials for tooling
• Issue raw materials to job
• Process purchase orders for outside operations
• Move tooling through the facility
• Process changes to tooling upon request
• Contact customers upon deviation or operator questions
• Ship parts to customer
• Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately
• Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
• Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

• Perform work under general supervision
• Handle moderately complex issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff
• Possess solid working knowledge of subject matter
• 2 to 4 years experience

• Ability to read and understand blueprints
• Ability to use hydraulic press, pedestal grinder, drill press, lathe, surface grinder, hand grinder, calipers, micrometers, power cutter and basic hand tools
