As a Phlebotomist/Behavioral Health Technician, the role centers around providing direct patient care and therapeutic support in alignment with the principles of Monte Nido & Affiliates. This includes tasks like collecting blood samples, vital signs, conducting point-of-care testing, and actively participating in patient activities. We are seeking a Phlebotomist/Behavioral Health Technician to work at Rosewood Ranch located in Wickenburg, AZ.
Hours: Full-Time
Summary of Benefits
Responsibilities Include::Essential Duties and Responsibilities (70%)
- Interact with patients in a courteous and professional manner, explaining procedures and alleviating any concerns or anxiety.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood samples from patients.
- Ensure proper identification of patients and labeling of blood samples to prevent errors.
- Prepare collected blood specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper handling and transportation.
- Follow established protocols for sample processing, including centrifugation and separation of serum or plasma.
- Responsible for transporting patients to and from facility safely and in a timely manner for specimen collection if collection cannot be performed onsite, in a vehicle that is provided by facility.
- If hired to support multiple facilities, responsible for transporting themselves in their personal vehicle from facility to facility based on established schedule by supervisor and as needed to meet patient needs.
- Perform CLIA waived point of care testing following established protocols.
- Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, and temperature.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures and quality control measures to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Stay updated on industry standards and changes in phlebotomy practices to ensure compliance, enhance skills and maintain certification.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, providers, and laboratory staff, to coordinate patient care.
- Strictly adhere to the infection control policy and procedures to prevent the spread of infections in the healthcare setting.
- Follow hand hygiene protocols, use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately, and maintain a clean and sanitized work environment.
- Participate in infection control training and stay updated on best practices and guidelines.
- Maintain an inventory of phlebotomy equipment, including needles, blood collection tubes, and other related tools.
- Regularly assess the stock levels, order supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage conditions.]
- Conduct routine checks on equipment functionality and report any issues for prompt resolution.
- Ensure the cleanliness and sterility of equipment to adhere to infection control protocols.
- Accurately record patient information, collection details, and test requisitions into the laboratory information system (LIS) and the electronic medication record.
- Maintain organized and detailed records of collected samples and related data.
- Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and maintain patient confidentiality.
Other Duties and Responsibilities (30%)
- Models therapeutic eating habits with clients by eating provided programmatic meals and snacks aligned with companys nutrition philosophy to completion throughout shift.
- Monitors patient safety (including eating disordered behaviors) during the program day and intervenes with recovery-focused directives when appropriate.
- Participates in and monitors daily meals and snacks with patients, including the preparation of said meals.
- Monitors bathroom activities and break times during the day.
- Documents in daily reports and patient meal logs, all information, interactions, communications, behaviors and interventions in a timely fashion.
- Demonstrates knowledge and awareness of a patients total needs as a person, and addresses psychosocial, physical, developmental, spiritual, and cultural issues as appropriate for each individual.
- Has working knowledge of the facilitys fire, disaster, and infection control programs.
- Adheres to and follows the Monte Nido & Affiliates policies and procedures, including work schedule, time and attendance, and time off.
- Uses tact and sensitivity in communicating effectively and respectfully with patients, families, co-workers and all others.
- Provides for maintenance of confidentiality of patient records and communications.
- Maintains the values and philosophy of the mission statement of the Monte Nido & Affiliates.
- Recommends quality and/or process improvement initiatives in order to more effectively and efficiently perform the job functions of this position.
- In an emergency or declared state of emergency, may be required to stay onsite as a part of the emergency team until emergency has ended.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year of phlebotomy experience required. Two years phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Phlebotomy Certificate or license required by state of employment.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Previous experience in the area of chemical dependency, mental health, psychiatric setting and/or eating disorder preferred
