    Quality Engineer

    Consolidated Precision Products (CPP-Cudahy), aviation, sandcasting manufacturing is currently seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Quality team. This position reports to the Quality Manager at our plant in Cudahy, CA.This position is responsible for ensuring the quality system, manufacturing, inspection and test processes, and product characteristics comply with both customer requirements and governmental regulations. The Quality Engineer is a key member of the QA team, providing feedback on quality issues and facilitating nonconforming material and corrective action activities. This position is one that requires the employee to obtain various customer-required certifications.

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Develop, maintain and advance CPP quality systems, procedures and practices.
    • Develop and document quality work procedures and processes.
    • Review contracts for adherence with CPP standards and practices.
    • Create quality plans for product qualification (PPAP and FMEA) as well as validate production processes.
    • NPI (New product introduction) quality planning (Work Instructions and Procedure development)
    • Interact with CPP NDT level III personnel to ensure product compliance.
    • Oversee conformance and quality enforcement of casting manufacturing process.
    • Routinely audit production lots for adherence to established techniques and to ensure the repeatability of the results.
    • Manage resolution of non-conforming material/processes.
    • Support the identification of process yield issues using various data analysis techniques (statistical, mathematical, DOE, 6 Sigma, etc.) to uncover variable in the process that are not maintained in a controlled fashion.
    • Ability to communicate daily to customers via email and phone conferences to resolve/address quality system concerns/inquiries.
    • Participate during customer/external audits including preparation, guidance and closure.
    • Drive closure of preventative/corrective actions, customer returns/inquiries.
    • Actively participates in daily stand up, RCCA, scrap and continuous improvement meeting.
    • Review and implement specifications as directed by customers and the government.
    • Review and approve incoming and outgoing purchase orders.
    • Initiate, monitor, and control internal and external customer requests for corrective action
    • Authorize product/process changes via Engineering Change Requests, or Customer Engineering Change Requests
    • Act as our customers release agent upon acquiring relevant certifications.
    • Authorize and issue Returned Goods Authorization (RGAs)
    • Coordinate with engineering team the applicable qualification documentation and data submittal packages.
    • Supervise and verify the accuracy of gage R&R studies, process capability, SPC, correlation and other data related statistical activities.
    • Work closely with other departments to ensure organization objectives are achieved.
    • Maintain a positive work atmosphere with respect and communication in a professional manner.
    • Comply with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies and procedures.
    • Work on/participate in special projects as needed or assigned by Management.
    Salary: $75,000- $90,000

    About You:
    • Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering or directly related field
    • Experience: 3+ years previous experience in Quality,
    • Experience in casting preferred (sand, investement, injection molding)
    • Certifications/Licenses: None
    • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Attention to detail, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), ability to work with others through complex situations
