    LOCATION: Brainerd, MN

    Sheridan MN, a CJK Group company, (formerly Bang Printing) started out in central Minnesotas lake area in 1899 as a commercial printer has evolved into one of the nations leading short- to mid-run book manufacturers is looking for a full time Electronics Maintenance Technician for our Maintenance department.     Job Summary:

    The primary role of the Electronics Maintenance Technician is to be responsible for maintaining Printing Press equipment, Book Binding equipment, and other various projects and repair work associated with a manufacturing plant.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Able to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals and understand functionality of the various electrical components
    • Has a working knowledge of the principles of relay logic and control circuits and can troubleshoot and maintain components
    • Understands the workings of and can effectively trouble shoot and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
    • Can successfully use testing equipment to diagnose issues with electrical components
    • Understands the workings of and can effectively trouble shoot AC/DC motor controls
    • Mechanical aptitude/ability to understand, diagnose and maintain mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
    • Perform preventive maintenance on all electrical components in plant
    • Perform work to ensure procedures are within safety and electrical codes
    • Consistently act as an example to safe work habits. Create and maintain a safe?and clean?working environment and promote safe work habits with all Electrician positions, other skilled trades, production staff and visitors
    • Through a thorough knowledge of the production process and an awareness of top-down codes and other production constraints, focus on root cause analysis and intervention, correction, and prevention of these bottlenecks by maintaining proactive and preventative scheduled maintenance task checklists and SOPs
    • Assist the groups manager or lead person in performing, prioritizing, and planning resources for breakdowns. Support increased productivity of the group by minimizing the interruption of technicians performing planned and scheduled tasks
    • Engage in continued education inside and outside the company, to maintain their ability to perform at a high level technologically and interpersonally

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Two (2) or more years mechanical experience
    • Three (3) or more years industrial electronics experience
    • High School diploma or GED required
    • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals and understand functionality of various electrical components
    • Working knowledge of principles of relay logic and control circuits and can troubleshoot and maintain components
    • Understand the workings of and effectively troubleshoot and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
    • Knowledge of using testing equipment to diagnose issues with electrical components
    • Understand the workings or and troubleshoot AC/DC motor controls
    • Mechanical aptitude/ability to understand, diagnose and maintain mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems

    Desired Skills and Abilities:

    • Associate degree in Industrial Electronics preferred

    Schedule is 40 hours/week

    • 1st shift 8 hours: 8 AM 4:30PM Monday Friday

    Physical Requirements

    Work is performed in a factory environment with regular exposure to paper dust, inks, chemicals, lubricants, noise and heat, and the physical hazards of machinery.

    • Walking: Must be able to walk as some tasks require walking
    • Standing: Must be able to stand on a concrete floor, sometimes covered with rubber mats, up to 9 hours/day
    • Lifting/Carrying: Must be able to frequently lift and carry signatures weighing up to 10 pounds at waist level from press folder to workstation for inspection (about 10 feet)
    • Pushing/Pulling: Must be able to occasionally push/pull skids of paper, weighing over 100 pounds, with hand lift trucks on a concrete floor
    • Bending/Twisting: Must be able to bed at the waist, flexing knees, and twist body to perform such tasks as working in folder and setting ink. Some days require more bending and twisting than others depending on press operations
    • Climbing: Must be able to climb in, out and around press equipment (such as ladder on printing units) as needed to perform various tasks
    • Kneeling: Must be able to perform various tasks in a kneeling position for various lengths of time
    • Grasping/Reaching: Must be able to reach for and grasp signatures of varying thickness and weighing up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis from the press with fingers and hands. Also requires flexing and bending of arms and wrists
    • Sitting: Some tasks allow for sitting usually not for more than one hour/day
