Plant Supervisor
Scope of Position:
Working under the general direction of the Plant Manager, performs a wide variety of duties associated with supervising the Manufacturing Department. Provide information and guidance in manufacturing activities and issues to managers and employees. Serves as a backup to the Plant Manager when absent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for promoting a safe culture and awareness within their area of responsibility. Piping, Electrical Panel Shop, Assembly, Electrical Assembly, Testing, Shipping.
- Provide strong leadership and training through visible leadership on the floor providing technical and administrative oversight of work through observation and floor surveillance.
- Using the ERP to plan the daily operation scheduling of plant production to ensure optimal utilization of plant equipment, personnel, and inventory requirements.
- Ensure all visual performance and scheduling boards are up to date.
- Working cross departmentally with production control and purchasing to maintain inventory control throughout departments and reduce stocking levels.
- Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and understanding of assembly drawings and electrical diagrams.
- Check BOMs from engineering and mark-up all BOMs jobs to be manufactured in the shop.
- Take an active role in continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying, planning, and leading such projects.
- Implement 5S tools and methodologies.
- Responsible for reducing indirect labor in the department.
- Work with engineering in making new or in redesigning units.
- Work with vendors to find solutions to late or incorrect shipments.
- Support the needs of other supervisors/leadmen to get units out the door.
- Track employee time daily work time, vacation days, and bonus days
- Maintain accurate files for costing of jobs.
- Conduct monthly safety talks.
- Conforms to all EHS, Quality, & Environmental Management System policies, objectives, and obligations.
- Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- 5 10 years of proven supervisory experience in discrete manufacturing.
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills.
- Indepth technical knowledge of the manufacturing process.
- Understanding of applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency.
