    Job Summary and Qualifications

    The Cardiac Catheterization Lab RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Meadows Hospital and the Georgia Board of Nurse Examiners. The role of the Cath Lab RN is to assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment plans in collaboration with all other members of the Cath Lab team. The Cath Lab RN is responsible for patient assessments, assisting with diagnostic and interventional procedures, patient education, administration of medications as ordered by the physician, and the documentation of these events in the patient's medical record. The Cath Lab RN must be highly specialized and work to stay abreast of the latest techniques in cardiac medicine.


    What you will do in this role:

    • Receives and assesses patient ensuring appropriate level of care as determined by their needs. Completes documentation requirements in a timely manner in accordance with program standards
    • Provides for patient comfort, safety, respect, and confidentiality. Knowledgeable of National Patient Safety Goals
    • Able to assist with all procedures performed in the cardiovascular department within scope of practice and competency level
    • Incorporates the physicians orders into the treatment plan and interprets them to the non-professional staff providing care to the patient.
    • Performs treatment interventions requiring a physicians order and nursing licensure implementation, (i.e., medication administration)
    • Utilizes data obtained from the nursing assessment and formulates a plan of treatment with other members of the multi-disciplinary team based on the patients needs
    • Conducts a comprehensive age specific nursing assessment of the patient if indicated
    • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care provided
    • Participates in monthly chart reviews and performance improvement projects
    • Maintain license/certifications requirements
    • Operates specific supporting equipment including point of care testing
    • Maintains appropriate level of supplies
    • Fosters teamwork and positive communication with coworkers and other departments, actively participates in organizational change in a positive manner to ensure smooth transitions in processes and procedures
    • Maintain infection prevention standards as per policy
    • Follows radiation safety standards as per policy

    What qualifications you will need:

    • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required
    • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state which you practice and/or hold an active Compact/Multi-State RN license
    • A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Health Care Provider is required
    • 1 year experience in a related role is required
