    Description

    The Leidos Civil group has an opening for a System Administrator to support EPAs NCRFO (National Center for Radiation Field Operations) located in Las Vegas, NV.Leidos provides support to EPA network infrastructure, system administration, Microsoft SharePoint, radio communications services and general IT services. Leidos manages on-premises and cloud virtual server environments on two separate networks.

    This System Administrator serves as the main point of contact, responsible for two distinct network segments which provide IT services for monitoring systems, emergency response (ER) field/analytical instruments, mobile assets, communication systems and assistance for tribal air monitoring systems and training.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    As a System Administratorfor the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) contract, the candidate will be responsible for administration of VMware and Hyper-V virtual server environments as well as on-premises physical servers to include both clustered and standalone environments. Conducts system performance tuning and disaster recovery practices to meet Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO). Configures, monitors, and reviews Security Information Event Management (SIEM) software such as Splunk and AWS CloudWatch and local server event logs for any potential security breaches. Reviews and remediates vulnerabilities within prescribed time limits discovered by Nessus and other vulnerability scans through application of security updates and patches to all software and hardware. Ensures redundant file protection using backup software such as Veritas Backup Exec for tape backups and Microsoft Distributed File System replication for file copies on multiple drives. Administers active directory by adding, removing, or updating user accounts, creating and managing GPOs, resetting passwords, managing access control lists, and updating group memberships. Ensure laptops and desktops meet system specific guidelines in areas such as provisioning, configuration, testing, updating, and decommissioning, and that they are prepared for emergency response services. Provide full management of network printer services to consist of print server, queues, mapping, and printer maintenance. Install and track approved applications and configurations, as per Change Management Request procedures. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Enforce National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53 and agency Standard Configuration Documents (SCDs). Assist in the documentation of IT system policies and procedures as required for the annual IT security assessments.
    • Responsible for vulnerability mitigation detected by SIEM (Nessus, Splunk, etc.); remediation entails OS/application upgrades, registry modifications, and configuring security certificates.
    • Configure and maintain backup strategy of all data stored on-site. Tasks include maintenance of the Backup Exec servers, verification of nightly backups, retention of shadow copies, monthly test file restores, SQL native backups.
    • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (ex. VMware, vMotion, storage vMotion).
    • Perform tasks on Cisco switches as a backup network engineer: enable/disable ports, clear port security, assign VLANs, and configure trunk/access ports required for server virtualization.
    • Daily review of critical notifications across all servers, storage, and backup systems.
    • Monitor ticketing systems (Jira, ServiceNow, e-mailbox).
    • Participating in and providing support for special projects.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Effectively communicate to team members and users of upcoming maintenance windows and outages.
    • Document system changes, processes, and topology diagrams.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Microsoft Office skills and SharePoint.
    • Must be able to obtain a public trust security clearance.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor with and a minimum of 2 or a Masters with less than 2 years of experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

    Pay Range:

    Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00

    The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
