    Prevention Specialist (9621)

    Purpose and Impact:

    The LSFHS prevention specialist manages and oversees the prevention network of care. This position is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and management of all prevention programs required by contract throughout the provider network. This position is responsible for completion of the Block Grant report.

    Essential Functions:

    • Perform the day-to-day assigned coordination activities to assist in creating an integrated prevention program
    • Represent LSFHS at community stakeholder, funder and provider meetings as assigned; chairing committee meetings as assigned
    • Assure programmatic outcomes are being met; create and disseminate required programmatic reports to funders, providers and LSFHS management, and evaluating how the outcomes are impacting required performance measures.
    • Assure compliance with contractual requirements, managing entity accreditation requirements, annual audit requirements and laws, regulations and rules that govern the provision of prevention
    • Provide programmatic technical assistance and training, both internal and external
    • Works closely with program manager to serve as a backup with program specific activities
    • In collaboration with the program manager, recommend and oversee programs, development and/or restructuring, implementation of programs and management of programs to ensure contract compliance and ensure contract deliverables are met
    • Oversee prevention system of care to ensure adherence to established performance standards and optimization of service delivery across the provider network, assuring national outcome measures are met network-wide
    • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of prevention program as evidenced by regular, effective, and ongoing communication with external and internal stakeholders
    • Work collaboratively with internal LSFHS departments; IT, Contracts, Finance, QI to refine and report required data.
    • Understand deliverables and provide feedback on how programs can improve or maintain
    • Work closely with LSFHS Contracts, Finance, and Quality Improvement to be familiar with all contracts, laws, attachments, and exhibits pertinent to the program area, and any associated changes
    • Utilize tracking mechanisms to insure requirements are met for program area, ongoing.
    • Provide programmatic technical assistance and training, both internal and external.
    • Complete Block Grant report as required.

    Physical Requirements:

    Energy, persistence and stamina sufficient for extended working hours and engaging in travel.

    Education:

    Bachelors degree in social services required. Masters preferred.

    Experience:

    1-3 years experience in substance abuse/mental health. In-depth understanding of Florida public mental health/substance abuse system, including treatment protocols and system of care principles and values, to assure contractual compliance. Knowledge of Evidence Based programs. Understanding of the (SPF) Strategic Prevention Framework and Prevention Database. Knowledge of Block Grants.

    Skills:

    Exceptional skills in program development and management Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to the provision of behavioral health services. Above-average oral communication and business writing skills. Ability to represent LSFHS well at funder, provider and community venues. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines.

    Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
