    Investment Accounting Manager

    This role could be hybrid (preferred) or remote based on proximity to an office location.

    The Investment Accounting Manager manages and directs the accounting and reporting for the companys various investment class and portfolios of securities. This includes reconciliation, analysis and reporting on both a GAAP and Statutory basis. The role also requires strong technical knowledge to ensure compliance and accuracy in reporting.

    What you do

    • Oversee the accounting, system feeds, journal entries and reconciliations, for the various investment asset classes. These included securities, mortgage loans, partnerships and other types of investments
    • Direct the preparation of various schedules for the quarterly and annual financial close for GAAP, Statutory and other regulatory financial reporting.
    • Participate in technology projects and initiatives related to investment systems and opportunities.
    • Work closely with the technology team to resolve any systems issues or upgrades by providing detailed analysis and business requirements.
    • Respond to questions from external auditors and regulatory examiners regarding investments.
    • Responsible for the accounting policies and practices related to investments, including the monitoring of new guidance to be implemented.
    • Assist in the production of structured impairment quantification and working with portfolio managers to assess impairment and credit loss estimation decisions.
    • Additional duties as required.

    What you bring

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
    • 4-7 years of Accounting experience. Investment Accounting experience highly preferred.
    • Previous Life Insurance industry experience preferred.
    • CPA License preferred.
    • Strong technology skills including advanced Excel, Dataiku, and Power BI
    • Strong technical/analytical skills and experience analyzing and interpreting financial data.
    • Experience working in investment systems and with ERP.
    • Excellent time management and prioritization skills to meet timelines for accurate filing of regulatory and management reports.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels in an organization and with outside vendors and other business partners.
    • Ability to travel to home office in Lincoln, NE as needed will be required if working remotely.
