    Structural Designer

    Position Overview:

    This position will be responsible for creating temporary point of purchase displays,protective and e-commerce packaging utilizing corrugated containerboard as the primary substrate. To be successful in this position, the candidate must be able to tap into their creative problem-solving skills while supporting our customers,sales,customer service and other designers to develop cost effective, unique and purpose-built solutions. Candidates must be able to visualize in 3D while working in both 2D and 3D to create prototypes that drive cost effective solutions to resolve customer challenges.

    Responsibilities:

    Essential Functions:

    Follow all company safety rules, policies,and procedures

    Supports and participates in a team work environment in order to meet company and departmental goals

    Supports the Sales Group with the requested design creations and samples

    Obtains quotes and manages the purchase of cutting dies, printing plates,litho laminate and preprint paper for new items

    Supports graphic projects

    Performs new tooling verification on new product printing plates, cutting dies, litho laminate and preprint

    Assist with production special request or problem tooling

    Performs the necessary activities to help maintain the functions of the Design Department

    Maintains relatve testing protocols such as Hazmat, ITSA, and big box/ecommerce customers

    Supports additional responsibilities as assigned by management

    Complies with Green Bay Packaging's policies and procedures

    Qualifications:

    Previous experience in structural design, preferably in the corrugate industry. Must be able to communicate and work well with customers, suppliers as well as customer service, sales and production personnel on a daily basis

    Skills and abilities

    Education: Bachelors degree in packaging design or engineering withion the paper or corrugated industries is preferred

    Indepth working knowledge of Artios CAD, Adobe Illustrator, TOPS/Cape palletzing software and Microsoft Office and its applications

    Familarity with retailer specifications, shipping guidelines, print production and manufacturing processes

    Knowledge of box plant machinery, tooling, and processes including an understanding of machine capabilities/limitations, specification sheets and drawings

    Knowledge of linerboard and board grade combinations as well as corrugating and printing processes

    Possess the ability to work independently as well as in team based environments to reach company goals

    Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

    Possess a positive attitude and maintains effective working relationships with coworkers and customers
