    YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The primary responsibilities of this role, Director, Health Policy, are to:

    • Serves as a lead analyst and strategist on health policy matters;
    • Coordinates activities with other members of policy team, federal and state government affairs colleagues, and outside policy consultants;
    • Manages engagement and alignment of health policy in conjunction with global policy colleagues;
    • Drives the development, management, and execution of public policy for Bayer, so as to protect and enhance the business goals and objectives of the pharmaceutical and consumer health businesses;
    • Reviews pending legislation, conducts analysis and works with the business as to how best to respond to proposed legislation and emerging policy trends;
    • The Director will team with and support the GR federal and state lobbyists in their work before legislative bodies, associations, business organizations and the public;
    • The Director maintains and develops continually an internal and external policy network;
    • Acts as one of the primary researchers and analyst for Federal/State policy issues; provide written position papers and backgrounders and develop strategic positions;
    • Actively communicates with various internal /external departments and divisions within Bayer including Government Affairs, Market Access, Sales, and Marketing, Legal, and Finance to increase awareness of government policy issues, assist in determining potential business impact, and building consensus regarding proposed positions and advocacy strategies. Oversee and coordinate financial modeling to assess business opportunity and risk;
    • Works cross-functionally with departments and divisions of Bayer globally to identify and direct the implementation of proactive policy initiatives, which can significantly impact Bayer Corporation performance, both long and short term.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree;
    • Strong understanding of the U.S. health care system including the Medicare program;
    • Collaborative working style that creates buy-in and commitment from colleagues and key external stakeholders;
    • Strong strategic planning skill and the ability to be forward-thinking and proactive on legislative, regulatory, and public policy issues;
    • The skill to manage often competing business interests and develop plans that reflect the best interest of Bayer;
    • Ability to work comfortably in a fastpaced environment where priorities and direction may change frequently;
    • Demonstrated record of excellence in execution;
    • Proven ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the Bayer organization, including senior management;
    • Must be professional and able to handle people and situations with tact, diplomacy, discretion, confidentiality, and a sense of urgency;
    • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with impeccable ethics and a high-level of integrity;
    • Strong time management, budget and organizational skills required;
    • Exceptional verbal, written and listening skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • The Director, Health Policy will have 12 or more years in healthcare policy development and management;
    • An advanced degree in law and/or public policy is preferred.
