    Managing Attorney

    Managing Attorney

    This senior management position manages attorneys in multiple offices who provide legal representation of insureds as well as the Exchange. This position ensures that legal representation is properly carried out within policy terms, is in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and is in adherence with legal defense best practices. The primary functions include leadership, coaching, performance counseling, training of attorneys, as well as regular communication, advice, and legal support to Claims Business Unit.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage file quality by ensuring proper staffing, training, communication, audits and customer feedback.

    • Manage employees' compliance with Club policy and federal and state labor laws.

    • Approve necessary forms and reports in compliance with these laws. Interview, screen and hire employees as replacements or additions to staff.

    • Coach employees regularly to reinforce behavior that promotes accomplishment of performance expectations and ensures adherence to department requirements and legal defense Best Practices.

    • Assign and direct work to attorneys.

    • Coordinate their activities and regularly review work product to ensure compliance with department requirements, acceptable quality of legal representation, and cost control.

    • Coordinate and lead attorney file reviews to discuss cases and direct attorneys regarding the investigation, discovery, evaluation and trial.

    Qualifications

    • JD from ABA accredited law school.

    • 10 years as attorney with insurance defense experience required.

    • Prior management experience required.

    • Advanced leadership abilities required.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills required.

    • Advanced organizational and planning skills required.

    • Advanced communication skills required.

    • Must be member of state bar within the state of California.

    • Valid driver license with level of financial responsibility required by the Club and an acceptable motor vehicle record.

    The starting pay range for this position is:

    $152,800.00 - $203,700.00
