    Job Summary and Qualifications

    Seeking a Lead Medical Technologist to join our lab team who will foster an environment of teamwork, quality and safety for our patients. The Lead Medical Technologist adheres to all procedures directed by manufacturers as well as regulations imposed by both HCA Houston Medical Center and CAP. The Lead Medical Technologist is also responsible for monitoring and maintaining equipment to ensure that all quality assurance deliverables. The position also provides department specific guidance, and training medical laboratory technicians, technologists and/or nursing staff.

    What You Will Do In This Role:

    • You will assist in the investigation and resolution of departmental specific problems/complaints from physicians patients, and their families, nursing and other laboratory or hospital personnel.
    • You will perform clinical laboratory testing in all/or designated areas and will be responsible for reviewing daily reports. You will be responsible for reviewing monthly quality control for your section, to include documenting variances and providing explanations for outliers and/or trending.
    • You will ensure major automated equipment is operational by performing required maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures daily, or as needed.
    • You will ensure adequate supply levels for the assigned section and/or department.
    • You will perform laboratory testing as necessary, participate in bi-annual CAP inspections, and communicate to Laboratory Management all issues concerning the functioning of the laboratory.

    What Qualifications You Will Need:

    • Bachelor Degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological or Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science (MT/CLS) from an accredited institution.
    • Or be qualified under CLIA guidelines for MT/CLS.
