I. SUMMARY
Reporting to the US CFO, the Director of Finance is a senior executive responsible for overseeing the financial activities of EMR USA. This role is responsible for managing the US Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, Risk & Insurance, and Tax functions. Further responsibilities include improving and strengthening, in close cooperation with the US regions, the quality of management information needed for managing the business and making investment decisions. The Director will support regional finance teams and ensure compliance and excellence in processes, controls, and the overall financial integrity of the business.
The Director must be technically sound with a continuous improvement mindset, hands-on and down-to-earth mentality, and an ability to communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. This is a US-level leadership opportunity that will have regular exposure to the US executive team and Group management in the UK.
II. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team of direct reports, and provide guidance and support to regional colleagues. Foster a collaborative and high-performance finance department.
Treasury: work closely with the US CFO and Group on US financing strategy, refinancing and optimization of credit facilities and leasing lines. Responsible in this context to prepare bank presentations, forecasts for banks, etc. Furthermore responsible for continuous improvement of the US treasury processes in close cooperation with the US regions and Group Treasury.
Risk & Insurance: work together with the US CFO and the insurance broker to obtain optimal insurance coverage. Oversee the risk management and insurance programs of the US, including coordination of any large insurance claim processing in close cooperation with the US regions. Make sure up to date insurance relevant information is provide to the broker.
Tax: Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the organization's tax position. Ensure compliance with tax regulations. Work in close cooperation with the Group tax manager and external advisors in relation to tax planning.
Strategic Planning: Facilitate the annual year planning and budget process for the US business units and related reporting to Group management
Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial and certain non-financial (i.e. ESG & safety) reports to senior management and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.Organize and lead regular and ad hoc performance review sessions with US Business units.
Acquisitions: lead in preparing valuations and financial due diligence. Support US regions in preparing investment proposals for large projects.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement: Work closely with other corporate functions (in both the central and regional business units) to provide guidance and assist in rolling out standard processes across the US finance teams to build financial capability and drive process improvements.
Perform ad hoc business analysis and support special projects for the finance function.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant strategic and senior management level experience
Masters degree in finance or accounting with a strong academic background
At least 10 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of corporate finance and accounting
Experience in an international company with a head office in Europe is an advantage.

Willing to travel on a regular basis, including periodic international travel
Preferable experience in metal recycling or commodity trading environment
