    Principal Electrical Engineer
    Procter & Gamble (P&G) is one of the world's leading companies in the manufacture of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), making globally admired brands such as Gillette, Pampers, Fairy and Oral-B.

    We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Principal Electrical Engineer, who will take on the role of Electrical System Owner (ESO) at our West Thurrock Manufacturing Site, owning the electrical safety program at the site and maintaining site electrical safe practices.

    Responsibilities:
    The role will have two fundamental components:

    A technical component, hands-on work, focused on Electrical Systems for voltages between 50Vac and 11000Vac. A safety system ownership component that ensures the site is executing the Electrical/Power Safety Systems to a satisfactory level.

    The need for both components is crucial to a successful site electrical safety program. You will ensure the company auditable Electrical Standards are met, as well as any UK law requirements. You will have ownership of the High Voltage network and Power systems* for the site, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order, managing all site electrical maintenance programs linked to the high voltage network.

    *Power systems include medium and low voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, protective relays, generators, transformers, power distribution panels, motor control centres, panel boards, meters, power tools, and personal protective equipment.

    Electrical Safety Responsibilities:

    • You will own the site electrical Inspect/Test/Maintain program, ensuring the site is on track for applicable electrical equipment inspections, engaging with site wide leadership and departments to have a healthy program.
    • You will run the safety inspection program for your area, updating the inspections as required, and reporting any outages.
    • You will coordinate the site shutdown activities, planning, execution and follow up for work in your area. Be available to support site electrical power outages, and have a good understanding of single line diagrams, short circuit studies, coordination studies and flash hazard studies.
    • You will act as a key member of the site change board, ensuring changes are handled in a correct way.

    Train and Communicate on Safety:

    • You will drive electrical training and complete qualifications, including new hire competency tests.
    • You will provide low and medium voltage electrical safety training as well as site wide awareness training.
    • You will lead the department electrical network pillar, ensuring that all departments are following the correct standards required by the company, completing capability training, audits, and projects.

    Job Qualifications
    Qualifications:

    • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification (a Diploma or certificate from an independent electrical certification program such as military training, electrician, licensed master electrician);
    • Validated experience working with electrical power systems and High Voltage Network;
    • A consistent record of delivering outstanding safety improvements and exceeding targets set;
    • A clear understanding of how to drive & implement projects;
    • Fluent in English language.

    Please note this is a day-based, rather than a shift-based role, you'll generally work 40 hours per week.
