Clinic RN - Oral Maxilofacial Surgery
Oral Maxillofacial Surgery serves a diverse patient population, including trauma, head and neck cancer, cleft palate, biopsies, dental extractions, dental implants, pediatric and adult facial and jaw abnormalities. The procedural nurse performs assigned procedures and physical assessments. Evaluates and revises plan based on changes in patient status during procedural sedation. Administers moderate sedation in the presence, and by the order of a provider. Assesses patient's health history, performs medication reconciliation, assesses compliance with prescribed plan of care. Performs telephone triage and assesses patient's problems or concerns by phone. Assesses patient's learning needs and performs education for pre-operative and post-operative care. Takes necessary imaging needed for the provider to facilitate the ideal surgical plan, this includes 2D and 3D imaging.- Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
- Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
- Provides health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
- Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students.
- Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.
- Performs advanced nursing activities, which can include assisting with procedures using conscious sedation, placement of IV's, and administering sedation and other IV medications.
- Assists Nursing Leadership in the development of departmental standing orders.
- Assesses patient's health history, preforms medication reconciliation, and assesses compliance with prescribed plan of care.
- Performs telephone triage and assesses patient's problems or concerns by phone. RN should be able to offer interventions, find a resolution, or seek assistance from providers as appropriate.
- Performs assigned procedures and performs physical assessments to assess the patient. Evaluates and revises plan based on changes in patient status.
- Administers moderate sedation in the presence, and by the order, of a provider. Assess, interpret and intervene based on the patient assessment and vital signs.
- Documents accurately and completely.
- Assesses patient's learning needs and performs education for pre-operative and post-operative care.
