Reporting directly to the Nurse Manager Medical Surgical and Nurse Medical Surgical Director, the Medical Surgical Nurse Leader takes on a variety of responsibilities within the department. This person will be supported by experienced and tenured staff of Medical SurgicalRNs.

Specializing in a wide range of inpatient populations, such as post-surgical, oncology, orthopedics, andnephrology, this Medical Surgical Department is fast paced and has several separate units to keep up with the rapid turnover. The Medical Surgical Nurse Leader will oversee clinical and administration operations across two units, totaling around 34-beds. This person will serve as a key component of success in the department and play a very important role in the unit's governance.

The Medical Surgical Nurse Leader will support the department by coordinating clinical and departmental activities such as Bed Control, Patient Transfers, and Quality Improvement, ensure quality patient care, and supervise the RN Medical Surgical staff. Additionally, this person will provide helpful recommendations to the Nurse Director and Nurse Manager regarding education and mentoring.
