    Senior Manager, Purchasing

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Responsible for leading the Purchasing team, managing supplier interactions, and ensuring effective material procurement strategies and processes, as well as work with New Product Development Group. Coordination with other North American manufacturing sites and Global Supply Chain team to maximize processes and synergies across all supply chain activities.

    Responsible for oversight of materials and services acquisition and administration, with the optimum balance of quality, cost, and supplier service, necessary for the company's production, Operations, and Engineering needs except for internal Machining Services.

    This individual will work closely with other members of the Operations team such as Manufacturing, Planning, Process and Supplier Quality Engineering, Machining Services, Customer Service Order Fulfillment, Customer Repair Department, as well as support for New Product Development Engineering.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

    • Manages the activities of the Purchasing Department in the planning, quoting, negotiation, contracting, scheduling and management of materials in support of all inventory and non-inventory requirements in compliance with Quality Management System (QMS), supply chain management strategies, and procedures to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and to improve delivery, while maintaining or improving quality and reliability of Karl Storz products.
    • Reviews and approves requisitions, purchase orders and contracts per authorization levels in SAP
    • Maintains strong relationships with Suppliers, expanding sourcing options, and enhancing the supplier network.
    • Monitors and evaluates supplier performance based on established scorecards, overseeing key metrics and indicators.
    • Work with Supplier Quality Engineering and Process and Development Engineering in the qualification of new technology suppliers, and any related process or product validation or re-validation activities
    • Oversight of critical and strategic Suppliers relationships as a part of Supply Chain Management understanding and risk review.
    • Monitors progress toward departmental and company goals, reporting these to management on a regular basis.
    • Evaluates inventory levels to ensure receiving the right product at the right time, at the right price.
    • Manages department actions to meet MRP requirements for purchased parts and services
    • Analyzes and interprets market conditions to determine present and future material availability.
    • Responsible for all QMS procedures, work instructions, and forms related to the KSI Purchasing department.
    • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems and recommend and/or implement necessary changes as assigned.
    • Evaluate current QMS procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives and develop and implement improved procedures and practices.
    • Provides input for proposed changes in the related QMS items that may affect Supply Chains activities.
    • Hire, train and develop Purchasing staff to successfully implement departmental and company goals.
    • Demonstrate a high standard of work ethic and professionalism to regulatory authorities and coworkers at all times.
    • Represent the company in a positive and supportive manner at all times.
    • Regular attendance is an essential job function.
    • Will spend part of his/her time as a member of continuous improvement teams undertaking projects and seeking ways to improve the quality of KSI's products and services .

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

    • Strong experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Negotiations, Materials Planning and Scheduling and Sourcing.
    • Knowledge of ERP system experience, SAP strongly preferred.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies, such as, but not limited to: Printed Circuit Boards, turn-key sourcing of electronic and electro-mechanical assembly, mill and turned machined parts, sheet metal parts, cable assemblies, molded parts, power supplies, and general catalog items
    • Demonstrated ability to:
      • Develop processes, define controls, and validate performance.
      • Define and maintain KPIs for management reporting.
      • Manage multiple assignments and projects.
      • Lead teams in a consensus building effort towards a defined goal.
    • Able to read and comprehend engineering drawings and specification sheets.
    • Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills to communicate clearly with manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, and supplier personnel.
    • Must possess strong organizational skills.
    • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles.
    • Knowledge of medical device quality system regulations and standards (eg, U.S. FDA Quality System Regulation 21CFR Part 820, ISO13485, ISO9001)


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management, or Business, in Technology related industries.
    • CPM, and/or CPIM highly desirable.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in Supply Chain Management experience including purchasing, contracts and negotiation, schedule adherence, as well as project management,
    • Experience in medical device, aerospace, military, automotive, industries or other similarly regulated industry preferred
    • 5-7 years' experience in a manager role
    • Experience in leading cross-functional teams to set strategic and accomplish goals and objectives required.
