Our facility in Sunnyvale, CA has an immediate opportunity for a System Safety Engineering Manager who wants to join and lead our safety mission. Reporting to the Operational Safety & Environmental Engineering (OSEE) SSE Senior Manager, you will support The OSEE System Safety initiatives within the organization. In this role, you'll be a change agent helping to manage the SSE processes that span the Product Lifecycle. This position will involve travel as required (5-10%). What does a typical SSE leader do? - You will direct the various SSE analyses and recommendations of safety criteria in system design, equipment, facilities and procedures to control or eliminate hazards - You will coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions - You will aid in the development and maintenance of the System Safety Common Integrated Processes System (CIPS) - You will be responsible for directing and conducting program audits to determine CIPS compliance and health across the Enterprise - You will participate in LM Space new business capture including proposal coordination and execution - To become more competitive, you will perform horizontal integration within the OSEE organization to identify opportunities and value-added modifications - You will promote SSE knowledge transfer initiatives - As a LM Space representative, you will partake in the SSE Community of Practice forum with different business areas across Lockheed Martin To promote the sharing of ideas, Lockheed Martin fosters an inclusive work environment that encourages differences and big-picture thinking. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelors degree in an Engineering or scientific discipline - Experience leading diverse Systems Engineering teams to identify hazards; assess and mitigate associated risks encountered in the design, development, test, production, use and disposal - Demonstrated knowledge and application of design and operations principles to include experience with hazard identification, analysis, risk mitigation and associated deliverable documentation - Must be able to work occasional overtime in support of weekend and off-hour activities - Must be a United States citizen - Able to obtain TS/SCI w/poly security clearance Desired Skills: - Subject matter expert in the System Safety discipline with 1-3 Systems Safety experience - 1-3 years of experience in two of the three; MIL-STD-882, Range Safety requirements/processes (EWR 127-1 and/or AFSPCMAN 91-710), and Domestic/International safety regulations - Experience with leading audits, budget responsibility, and mishap prevention/investigations - Certified Safety Professional (CSP/ASP) - Green Belt/Black Belt Certified - Current TS/SCI w/poly security clearance - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) - Experience with System Safety contractual and SSC Command Media requirements and their execution throughout the product lifecycle BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: job.Qualifications Lockheed Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
