    OurPediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)isa 20 bed combined medical-surgical unit which cares for more than 1600 critically ill children each year.When a child is transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, UH Rainbow Babies & Childrens Hospitals team of caring pediatric team isavailable to provide the highest level ofexpert critical care in Northeast Ohio. This includes care and treatment for traumatic injuries, critical illnesses, and for children recovering fromsurgery. We also treat children referred from the emergency department and other pediatric divisions.

    Some of the conditions we treat include:

    Life-threatening traumatic injuries

    Complications of cancer or blood disorders

    Diabetic ketoacidosis

    Liver or kidney failure

    Poisonings

    Rare, cancerous tumors

    Serious or rare forms of any childhood disease

    Severe asthma attack

    Viral or bacterial infections, including severe cases of meningitis or pneumonia

    Joining the UH Rainbow Babies and Childrens PICU team comes with many benefits, including a sign-on bonus of $4,000 for RNs with 1 year inpatient RN experience hired externally. All sign on bonus amounts are subject applicable taxes

    Schedule: Weekender Program

    This program offers you time off during the week, increased pay and full-time medical/dental benefits in exchange for working 24 hours (2 shifts) every weekend between the hours of 7pm Friday through 7am Monday. Apply now for more information.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice.

    Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices.

    1 year RN experience required in a PICU environment

    Education Requirements:

    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from accredited program preferred.

    Minimum of Diploma/Associates Degree in nursing from accredited program.

    License Requirements:

    Registered nurse with current license to practice in the state of Ohio.

    Current BLS Provider Certification, issued by the American Heart Association, must be obtained during Nursing Orientation.
