Medical Laboratory Technician
Description
Summary:
Performs laboratory testing of patient specimens in one or more sections of the laboratory.
Work Schedule:- PRN, No guaranteed days or hours
- Days and hours may vary
- Nights
Responsibilities:- Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens. Interprets, documents and reports test results.
- Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Complies with good laboratory practice and regulatory requirements.
- Performs projects as assigned as well as serves as a resource to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.
- Within
scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the
ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a
fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:- Minimum Required Education: Associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology OR, on or before 4/24/1995, be a high school graduate or equivalent and have successfully completed an official U.S. military medical laboratory training course and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician).
Required Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or by the American Medical Technologists (AMT). Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. State licensure if required by law.
Minimum Experience: None Required.
The
pay range for this position is: $22.54 - $33.81 / hour. Pay is dependent on
applicant's relevant experience.
An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and
individual performance.
