Job Summary
Performs work associated with both set-up and plastic processing functions.
Job Duties
- Perform all required setup activities to ensure the molding process meets the requirements
- Document processing changes, adjustments, problems or other action taken and notify quality department for any possible dimensioning re-verification and visual criteria needed due to process changes
- Perform visual quality checks and monitor press cycle times; make changes as needed to improve or enhance product quality and efficiencies following proper change notifications
- Perform startup operations on all machines and equipment (i.e., Grinders, Dryers, etc.)
- Effectively troubleshoot processing concerns
- Test and inspect machines to determine safe and efficient operation
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods and sequence of operation when applicable
- Perform complex troubleshooting of equipment/tooling and perform adjustments
- Operate powered industrial equipment if needed
- Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately
- Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
- Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience and Education
- Perform work under minimal supervision
- Handle complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher level staff
- Possess comprehensive working knowledge of subject matter
- Typically require a 2-year technical degree or equivalent and 4 to 6 years of years of experience in plastic injection molding; experience driving powered industrial equipment preferred
- Powered industrial equipment certification preferred
- Provide leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group
