HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital, located on Florida's Emerald Coast, seeks a full-time Registered Nurse to join our Behavioral Health Team!
The Registered Nurse is responsible to Charge Nurse and Nursing Director for the delivery of quality patient care utilizing the nursing process. The quality of care given will be in keeping with the philosophy and objectives of the hospital and the Department of Nursing and will maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice in order to meet the health care needs of patients, their families and the community.
The Registered Nurse prescribes delegates and coordinates all nursing care provided throughout the hospital. The RN supervises patient care support personnel. The RN is responsible for meeting all standards associated with performance, nursing practice and nursing care.
The Psychiatric Treatment Center (PTC) is a 48-bed inpatient facility within HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital that is dedicated to providing quality mental health care. The PTC is located on the first floor and is composed of two separate 24-bed acute care psychiatric units caring for adults 18 years and older who require inpatient psychiatric treatment. The PTC provides treatment for a variety of psychiatric conditions coexisting with medical problems. A comprehensive diagnostic evaluation is available as well as a treatment program tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Following a comprehensive evaluation, a plan of care is formulated for each patient based on his/her individual needs including medical, psychiatric, family, and psychosocial components. The objective of this acute treatment is to stabilize patients, improve their functioning, and successfully transition them to their next level of care.

Job Summary and Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
RN Degree from an accredited school of Nursing required
BSN preferred
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Current FL RN license required or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license is required within 90 days of hire
BLS AHA Healthcare Provider required upon hire
CPI-Training provided upon hire
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
Psychiatric experience preferred
Acute care experience preferred
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to transcribe physicians orders
Knowledge of body substance isolation
Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal, and external partners needs
Basic computer skills
