    Position Overview

    The Cou n t e r Sales Representative is responsible for assist in g customers and contractors with the sales process by tak in g orders over the cou n t e r , answer in g questions, and receiv in g payment for customer orders. This position typically works in a retail environment.

    Essential Job Duties

    • Greet and in teract in a positive manner with customers. Assists with questions regard in g merchandise, location of merchandise in store, pric in g, and promotions.
    • Process customer sales through use of cas h register. Receive payment by cas h , check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits and processes accord in g to company standard procedures.
    • Provide in itial response to customer in quiries regard in g product selection, placement of orders, requests for prices and quotations, compla in ts and schedul in g of deliveries and in s t a l l a t i o n s, and provid in g customer follow-ups.
    • Facilitate product selection of scheduled and walk- in showroom customers, us in g proper forms to assure consistent records of selections.
    • Purchase special products and obta in in formation on pric in g specifications, uses, and availability.
    • Attend assigned tra in in g and meet in gs as required to in crease knowledge of entire product offer in g.
    • Create accurate and complete in voices, work orders, and sales tickets. Code and in put customer orders, pric in g in formation, and additional data in to the computer system.
    • Issue refunds or credits to customers with manager approval when necessary.
    • Bag, box, or wrap merchandise; prepare packages as necessary.
      Correctly ma in ta in all cas h levels at the registers, compute and record totals of transactions.
    • Responsible for appearance of the showroom, the physical in tegrity and pride of the showroom. Ma in ta in store environment in clud in g doors, floors, w in dows, ceil in gs, restrooms, and workstations. Clean and dust products, displays, and face of the products.
    • Ma in ta in stock levels on the sales floor and in the stockroom.


    • Assist with physical in ventory.
    • Other duties as assigned by location management.


    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • M in imum education required - High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • M in imal experience required - build in g material knowledge and sales experience a plus.
    • Special skills required - Commitment to provid in g excellent customer service, strong oral and written communication skills. Ma in tenance of professional demeanor. Must be detail-oriented and highly observant. Must be able to multi-task. Must possess good mathematic skills. Able to use a calculator and computers.
    • Knowledge of build in g materials, applications, related equipment, and/or construction in dustry.
    • Good in terpersonal and customer relations skills, vendor knowledge, ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to read and understand bluepr in ts.
    • Should be familiar with computer, pr in ter, telephone, copy mach in e, fax mach in e, eng in eer's scale/ruler, mechanical tools, in ventory, and in ventory control.
    • Must be able to drive and walk throughout yar d s, plants, and offices, computer literate with Microsoft Office products and Trend system.
    • Ability to work Saturday and even in g schedules as required .
    • Physical demands in clude stand in g regularly, walk , use hands and arms to f in ger, handle, feel, carry, or reach. Oc cas ionally required to sit; climb or balance or stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift in g up to 25 lbs., frequently lift in g up to 50 lbs., and oc cas ionally lift in g up to 100 lbs.
