    The South Carolina General Manager of Aggregates role is based in Mauldin, SC and reports to the Region President.

    The General Manager Aggregates will be responsible for providing leadership in safety, operations and sales to the Heidelberg Materials business in South Carolina. The General Manager will work with the President of Southeast Region to execute the Companys strategic plan to promote growth of revenue, profitability, personnel and operational footprint. The General Manager will oversee the operations to ensure safe production, efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources. The position of General Manager is a developmental role. Candidates are expected to develop their management skills and be willing to relocate to different parts of the North America (NAM) organization to fulfill future organizational needs.

    What youll get to do

    • Work to enact the strategic plan to promote safety, environmental complaince, revenue growth, and profitability of the organization.
    • Oversee operations to insure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
    • Plan, develop, and implement strategies for growing revenues, improving our sustainable footprint and securing long-term reserves for the aggregate businesses.
    • Manage the operating units capital plan to improve operating efficiency and capacity. Identify acquisition and merger opportunities. Project manage internal and external resources to grow our organizations footprint.
    • Implement and help to improve company operational procedures, policies, and standards.
    • Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
    • Evaluate and coach improvement in the performance of the management staff.
    • Ensure compliance with established policies and objectives. Engage with Human Resources and external associations to develop the bench strength of our current leaders and attract future leaders to our organization. Participate in mentoring of new management employees.
    • Represent the company at state level legislative sessions, committee meetings, and at formal functions.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations/permits and Group guidelines in area of responsibility.
    • Participate within the Region Executive Leadership team, sharing resources, experience and ideas for the betterment of the Southeast. Engage with NAM staff functions to bring best practices from other parts of Heidelberg Materials to Southeast Region.

    Essential Experience and Skills

    • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, or relevant discipline
    • At least 10-15 years of construction industry experience
    • At least 5 years of P&L accountability
    • Strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills
    • Knowledge of the Aggregates, Ready Mix, and Asphalt business, customers, competitors, products, and manufacturing processes
    • Manufacturing and commercial experience
    • Strong project management skills
    • Good financial acumen
    • Strong track record of accomplishments within the areas of safety & health, environmental complaince, employee development, change management, and team leadership
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office

    Preferred Experience and Skills

    • MBA or additional post graduate education, training, or certifications
    • Well networked within the industry including trade associations
    • Multi-site experience

    Work Environment

    • Role operates primarily a professional office environment but requires conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
