Job Description
Summary/objective
Buffalo Rock is an award-winning Pepsi-Cola Bottler founded in Birmingham, AL, more than 100 years ago. The Corporate PLC Controls Technician position is a key member of the Corporate Maintenance Team that designs, develops and supervises all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment and machinery.

- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position. Position is required to work all hours necessary to ensure operations function is fulfilled, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.
- Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Will maintain a catalog of all programs with back up stored on USB disk under the management of the Director of Maintenance.
- Supports Manufacturing Engineering in the development of standards and specifications, including a complete purchase parts list related to controls systems as needed.
- Provides technical support for controls systems during the introduction of new equipment.
- Supervises the assembly and installation as well as assemble and installs new equipment and can make modifications to existing equipment as requested.
- Looks for opportunities for continuous support improving efficacies and overall plant performance.
- Develops electrical PM procedures and evaluates and updates all as needed. Will develop new Electrical PM for all added equipment.
- Notifies Director of Maintenance of obsolete and or troublesome equipment so action can be planned around upgrades / replacement.
- Mentoring, training and assisting maintenance technicians, electricians and operations in the changes to equipment, i.e. new logic, safety, etc.
- Must be flexible to work overtime, weekend and holidays should business needs demand.
- Be familiar with current 70e safety practices and able to exercise them.
- FOOD SAFETY: Required to follow the Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in the Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110. Required participation in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes. Required to report potential issues related to Food Safety.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.

Required education and experience
Education:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
- Technical Associates Degree preferred or equivalent automated manufacturing experience: Required
Experience:
- 5 plus years of automated manufacturing technical experience: Required
- Experience working with Allen Bradley, RS Logix, and Device Net, Profibus, ProfiNet, Ethernet, Ethernet/IP controls systems and other current technologies: Required.
Other Requirements:
- Fabricate, install, manufacture brackets for field devises.
- Ability to install program and document changes to equipment.
- Required to carry a company phone to support plant production.
- Carry a radio for direct communication when working at the plant.
- Ability to lead a project at installation and be the main customer interface.
