Special Education Aide

New Story School in Sandusky, OH is seeking a qualifiedSpecial Education Aide to apply the principles of behavioral science in assisting students, teachers, and other support staff with education and behavior management. Special education aide staff must be on-call to quickly respond to staff requests. Special education aide staff must be able to effectively run a classroom during substitute teaching assignments. Special education aide staff must practice positive and professional behavior during all daily interactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply the principles of behavioral science toassist the educationand management ofstudents

- Assist withPrecision Teaching activities
- Assist with data recording(such as IEP or behavior data)
- Use data to makedecisions
- Assistwithexplicitinstruction
- Apply Mathetics toassistdailyinstruction
- Assist withdirect instruction programs andtechniques
- Assist withhabit trainingduties
- Assist with the managementofstudents
- Implement principles of behavioral science to effectively manage studentbehavior
- Adhere to the classroom management tier assigned to eachstudent
- Correctly and appropriately use prescribed crisis interventionprogram
- Supervise and executeschool activities inside and outside theclassroom
- Assist inmaintaininga safe and effective classroomenvironment
- Implement data-based decisionmaking
- Useformalacademic and behavior data toassist withinterventions
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess the ability to perform non-violent crisis intervention techniques, including verbal and physical redirection and guidance of potentially physically aggressive students during crisis situations.
- Must possess the ability to react quickly and be sufficiently mobile to redirect students that could be injurious to themselves or others, i.e. stop a child from running out of a building, physically redirect a child with severe behaviors, etc.
- Must be able to physically assist with evacuating students during emergency situations.
- Must earn and maintain full certification(s) in assigned crisis management programs
