Logistics Specialist

US LBM LLC dba ABC Truss seeks a Logistics Specialist in Chetek, WI to assist with procuring material, maintaining inventory, recommending process improvements, working on logistics projects, and planning in response to product demand.
The specific duties and responsibilities include:- Monitor products/goods as they move through the stages of product life, including development and engineering, growth, maturity/stability to maximize profit, durability, quality, production, technology and distribution;
- Recommend the procurement of goods, supplies, services and activities related to the production cycle, including strategic/tactical purchasing planning as a procurement strategy; material requirements planning according to the manufacturing strategy; controlling inventory, warehousing or receiving; storage solutions and the distribution of products/goods;
- Coordinate continuous improvement strategies/initiatives through the application of lean, lean six sigma and quality management to improve productivity, quality, efficiency of operation, safety, inventory, material planning, cost control and reduction, and scheduling to better services and products, and support changes in market condition;
- Support a lean philosophy by using principles of the Toyota Production System, lean manufacturing and process improvement; evaluating the value stream-process that creates the product, from start to finish; identifying the 7 wastes of lean and searching for other improvement possibilities like Mura Muda or Muri; and applying tools such as: Kaisen, Kanban system, Poka yoke, Fishbone diagrams, BOC, CTQ's, process maps, 5 Whys, DMAIC, DMADI, Jidoka, Gemba, and 6s system;
- Ensure proper inventory levels to meet customer's needs and company objectives by using inventory management approaches and techniques such as Economic Order Quantity (EOW), Minimum orders quantity (MOQ), ABC analysis, Just in Time (JIT), Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO), reorder point and safety stock and FIFO and LIFO;
- Administer and enter data on the designed ERP systems of the organization, providing insights into all the manufacturing and logistics operations to support the business functions, optimize schedules, equipment and labor, and maximize the capacity within a centralized and integrated technological system;
- Develop procedures to coordinate and align logistics and supply chain management efforts of the functional areas such as sales, marketing, finance, production, and quality assurance to improve the supply chain performance and achieve goals;
- Monitor KPIs that provide visibility to the cross-functional activities in the organization's supply chain, capturing end-to-end performance factors such as: perfect orders, inventory levels, stocks losses or damages, gross profit, cost of goods sold, safety and total logistics cost; and
- Evaluate projects related to logistics, operation and procurement utilizing lean project management skills.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Operations Research, Operations and Supply Management, or a closely related field, plus two years of experience: defining project goals and developing benchmarks using lean manufacturing; creating internal and external communication channels for general management; preparing cost and data analysis reports and analyzing return on investment; procuring equipment and using Just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing; conducting market research, and training employees on processes, services, and products. We require Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
