Description
Job DescriptionOverview:The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising the efficiencies of the Maintenance department. The Maintenance Supervisor manages a team of employees, maintains and repairs a transit fleet.Responsibilities- Assists with scheduling employees for the department; trains and coaches mechanics
- Monitors daily accident reports to establish efficient repair schedules; inspects damaged units to estimate cost of repair and time required for repairs
- Establishes priority of maintenance and repairs based on availability of materials and parts and requirements of scheduled operations
- Helps to ensure that company and client equipment is maintained and operating efficiently
- Controls and monitors inventory, in the absence of Parts staff; examines worn or damaged parts and makes recommendations for repair/replacement to management
- Ensures that all vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and properly working
- Implements safety policies and procedures for the department; maintains a safe working environment
- Ensures that property, grounds, and facilities are clean and well organized
- Other duties as required.
QualificationsEducation, Licensing, and Certifications:- High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED
- Must be age 21 or older
- Must possess a Commercial Driving License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements
- Appropriate Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications preferred
- Master Mechanic certification preferred
Experience:- 3 years or more of progressively responsible experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of automotive and transit equipment including supervisory experience
Skills and Knowledge Required:- Good written and oral communication skills
- Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy duty transportation vehicles
- Familiarity with laws/regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities
- Ability to read, interpret and apply documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read blue prints, schematics, and other mechanical and/or electrical diagrams
- Ability to read and write routine reports, forms, and other documentation or correspondence
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to details
- Ability to work well with labor
Travel requirement (as a percent) : <5% for occasional meetingsPre-Employment Requirements:- Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check
- Must be able to pass and maintain a DOT physical examination
