    Marine/Mechanical Technician

    The Marine/Mechanical Technician will provide:

    Installation and maintaining navigation aids (lights). Navigation skills and equipment.

    Operate tugboats, towboats, small maritime craft, or self-propelled barges to include navigation skills, maneuvering and communications.

    Familiar with engineering and fleet operating principles related to marine systems.

    Work independently providing waterfront technical support for troubleshooting small boat systems, providing preventative and corrective maintenance, maintaining/repairing 50 to 150 HP outboard motors, marine diesel engines, and electrical generating plants.

    Inspect all watercraft, develop repair packages, develop cost estimates, oversee other support technicians' execution of assigned repair packages and conduct acceptance testing.

    Maintain and repair machinery such as: winches, gear and chain driven transmission systems, hydraulic and pneumatic actuators, pump motors, cranes and hoists, boats and barge propulsion systems powered by gasoline and diesel engines.

    Familiarity with the installation of electrical and mechanical components including but not limited to boat alterations for security systems, instrumentation, cabling, gauges and sensors, radars, external speakers, depth sounders, sonar, cabin and deck lighting, engines, pumps and shore power.

    Transport of passengers, material and freight. Conduct training for small boat operators on marine systems and associated platforms.

    Towing submersibles or arrays on determined course using precision Navigation. Positioning & rigging to anchor a variety of floating platforms. Salvage and ROV operations.

    Over the water crane and rigging operations.

    Ship systems and methods of handling large vessels up to 130 ft. long and capable of lifting 80 tons.

    Planning, assembly, fabrication and installation of rigging used for handling and positioning model prototype test components and fixtures.

    Knowledge of rigging materials such as wire rope, natural and synthetic fiber rope, clips, shackles, hooks, pad-eyes, swivels, rams and jacks, etc.

    Operate Category 1, 2, 3 and/or 4 Cranes. Operation of winches, cranes, hoists.

    Requires HS Diploma and 1+ years of applicable experience.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret clearance

    US Citizenship required.
