    Position Title: Corporate EHSIntern

    Type: Internship

    Location: Joliet, IL

    Reports to: EHS Director for Management Systems, Compliance and Global Silicas (Project Scope: Confined Space)

    Illinois EHS Partner (Project Scope: Joliet Local Support)

    PQ Corporation is looking for an EHS Intern to lead and develop a comprehensive Global Confined Space program which includes a policy, requirements, training material, KPIs and implementation guidance. The EHS Intern will apply their EHS knowledge and skills in a global environment with multiple groups. They will work in a team approach to acquire an understanding of the various programs that exist within regions.

    Under the guidance of the Illinois EHS Partner, the EHS Intern will assistin establishing and/or reviewing Joliet based procedures including equipment specific LOTOTO*procedures, equipment specific confined space entry procedures and JSAs. The EHS Intern will need to conduct field procedure audits.

    EssentialJobDuties:

    ?

    • Develop the Global Confined Space Program.
    • Analyze work environment, make necessary recommendations to control, eliminate, and prevent injury or harm to employees.
    • Work with the Global EHS team, operations and others to acquirethe internal knowledge of the various Confined Space Programs and to verify the elements of the program.
    • Site walkthrough to review specific areas and/or equipment.
    • Work with theIllinois EHS Partner as defined.
    • Attend local EHS meetings as directed.
    • Additional responsibilities may be made at the discretion of the EHS Director.

    Required Skills:

    ?

    • Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelors degree or masters degree program in Engineering or EHS.
    • Knowledge of confined spaces, lockout/tagout and job safety analysis is an asset.
    • Strong attention to detail, quantitative and analytical skills.
    • Strong leadership, interpersonalcommunication, and computer skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.
    • Ability toinfluence / motivate diverse teams to achieve a unified goal.
    • Ability to conduct physical inspections of all work areas.

    • Local LOTOTO* equipment specific procedures updated, reviewed and/or created.
    • Local Confined Space equipment specific procedures, updated, reviewed and/or created.
    • Local JSAs, updated, reviewed and/or created.

    *LOTOTO = Lockout Tagout Tryout
