    Description

    Summary:

    The Patient Care Tech I will assist with conducting and documenting vital signs, changing and making beds, transporting patient, delivery of food trays and assisting with lifting in and out of bed. In addition will provide activities for daily living to the patient that includes bathing, feeding, and dressing. May also deliver and retrieve items from other departments within the hospital. Answer call lights and may function as a Unit Secretary, including preparing patient record and order entry.

    The Medical Surgical Telemetry Pediatrics department at Christus Spohn Alice has a daily average census of approximately 25 patients. We often see patients with CHF, Pneumonia, Skin Abscess, Chest Pain, COPD, Diabetes, Appendicitis, Cholecystectomy, EGD's, Colonoscopy, Pediatrics with Asthma, Bronchitis, Viral Syndrome, and Pneumonia. Our associates feel very proud to work in this department. Med Surg Tele Peds is a unit in which you can develop all of your nursing skills and train to float to other units if desired. MSP requires hard work and critical thinking skills due to range in age of patients and disease processes involved. We are a group of highly skilled nurses that are willing to teach and grow our own nurses to the fullest potential.

    Requirements:

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Strong customer service skills and computer literacy is required. Previous experience as a Patient Care Tech in a hospital setting preferred.
    • CPR (American Heart Association)
