    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Location: Vermont candidates ideal; remote acceptable (Must be eligible to work in US, EST/CST time zone preferred)

    Role Overview:

    The Source and Recruit Company has been retained by VITL to assist in their search for a Linux Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). This role, reporting to the Director of Technology, is pivotal in constructing and maintaining distributed cloud solutions integral to VITL's dynamic health data projects.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Architect and administer distributed cloud solutions.
    • Deploy and oversee open-source technologies including Linux, Docker, Kafka, Couchbase, and Postgres.
    • Manage AWS services such as S3, EC2, VPC, SQS, and Lambda.
    • Ensure service reliability, performance, security, and scalability.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues, adhering to SLAs.
    • Participate in critical off-hours support and maintenance.
    • Develop patch management and backup routines aligned with risk management and operational efficiency.
    • Uphold security and disaster recovery standards.
    • Offer technical expertise and advocate best practices in cloud solutions.
    • Engage collaboratively with the technology team to enhance service delivery.
    • Maintain thorough documentation of systems and processes.


    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors in computer science/software engineering or equivalent experience.
    • 3-5 years in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
    • 3-5 years Linux experience.
    • Knowledge of virtualization/containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
    • Understanding of TCP/IP, VPC, networking fundamentals.
    • Proficiency in Python, Bash, and tools like NewRelic, Datadog, CloudWatch.
    • Familiarity with Kafka, Couchbase, Postgres is advantageous.
    • Experience with HL7, FHIR, Mirth Connect, and Rhapsody is beneficial.
    • Strong learning ability for new languages, tools, frameworks.
    • Excellent technical, analytical, and project management skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
