    Job Summary and Qualifications

    As a Medical Surgical Float Pool Licensed Vocational Nurse, Responsible for providing nursing care to patients with minor to major illnesses or injuries As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, you will participate in providing patient specific care standards as directed and follow service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.

    You will participate in implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.

    You will obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, blood glucose levels, intake and output and calorie counts.

    You will assist with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients. You will assist with use of walkers, crutches, canes and wheelchairs. You will transfer patients to and from other units, departments or entities. You will assist with discharge and demonstrate proper body mechanics.

    You will provide or assist with non-medicated support care, including non-sterile dressing changes, skin protection, application of heat or ice, and venous compression devices.

    You will assist patients of daily living to include eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming and elimination. You will change bed linens as needed.

      You will assist in the setup, removal, and cleaning of equipment. You will identify malfunctioning equipment and initiate repairs.

      The Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services. In collaboration with the RN and other members of the care team, the LPN/LVN provides individualized, comprehensive care consistent with the scope and standards of the specialty.


      What qualifications you will need:

      Experience

      At least 2 years of LVN experience

      Experience as a staff nurse in an acute care setting

      Education

      Graduated from an approved school of vocational nursing

      License and Certifications

      Current State of Texas LVN license or Compact Registered Nursing License (if Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire)

        Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. Davids Healthcare policy
