What you will do in this role:
*This position supports patient safety program which includes but is not limited to the following components: Prevent Safety Events, Identify Safety and Risk Events, Analyze Safety Events, Develop and Implement QI/PI, Evaluate Plan Impact, Mitigate Regulatory, Legal, and Financial Risk, Facilitate Legal Processes.
Support of the program would include the following activities:
E1. Patient Safety Rounds that identify patient safety risks.
E2. Support and encourage harm reporting throughout the organization through a non-punitive just event reporting system.
E3. Reviews facility occurrence reports to identify clinical risk issues.
E4. Provides feedback that acknowledges both the value of event reporting and review of reported events.
E5. Conducts surveillance, chart reviews and education activities for patient safety and performance
E6. Improvement.
E7. Participates in the investigation and coordination of analysis of safety events.
E8. Collects accurate data pertaining to patient safety indicator and hospital acquired condition measures.
E9. Coordinates root cause analysis of patient safety events and assures implementation of resulting actions plans.
E10. Conducts the investigation, summary reporting, data analysis, response planning, implementation and follow-up of all events of harm root cause analyses within a hospital.
E11. Participates in performance improvement teams, audits and other activities as needed. Analyzes occurrence data for frequency and severity of events.
E12. Facilitates the investigation and resolution of patient complaints and grievances.
E13. Tracks and reports to the FDA, and other entities, any medical device related events according to the requirements of the Safe Medical Device Act.
E14. Coordinates of facility insurance plan and facility risk assessments.
E15. Coordinates of information gathering and interviews related to claims and suits and interact with legal counsel as needed.
E16. Promote a culture that is positive, that values individual strengths, takes risks, and is committed to optimal patient care, and compliance with regulatory standards.
What qualification you will need:
* Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing is required.
* Bachelors Degree in Nursing required.
* Masters degree in nursing or healthcare field preferred
* Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
* 2 years of acute care clinical experience required.
* Experience in patient safety, risk management and/or quality preferred. Healthcare experience should be recent and within a clinical setting such as hospital, ambulatory surgery center, etc.
* Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills, willingness to learn, comfortable and skilled at working with physicians and healthcare providers, excellent computer skills including Exc.

2. Advanced interpersonal communication skills to provide effective consultation and collaboration.
3. Ability to relate to diverse ages and demographic backgrounds.
4. Ability to organize and define problems, develop strategies, and carry out action plans.
5. Must be able to handle stressful environments and apply de-escalation techniques when needed
6. Must have computer skills that include Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.
