The Role and the Company
Heidelberg Materials is North Americas leading supplier of cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, and asphalt. We have hundreds of plants and thousands of employees working across the United States and Canada.
The Maintenance Supervisor position is based in Mitchell, IN and reports to the Maintenance Manager.
What youll get to do
Oversee the work performed by maintenance crews and outside contractors
Manage urgent equipment issues
Coordinate with the Maintenance department by communicating anticipated jobs
Help develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules, and prioritization of mechanical expenditures and procedures
Prepare material and labor estimates to develop project cost estimates and plant budgets
Monitor the acquisition and use of materials to meet productivity and budgetary goals
Maintain time, work order, material, equipment and other mechanical shop records
Determine appropriate training for employees by evaluating their skills, abilities, safety practices and behavior to maintain the necessary skills to perform their jobs
Plan the schedules of the staff including assigning work and overtime as required
Participate in the implementation of plant projects
Ensure the application of the plants rules of conduct, policies, and health & safety protocols during maintenance procedures to minimize injuries and lost time incidents
Ensure that Maintenance department tools and equipment are in good working condition and that adequate stocks of consumables are maintained to allow maintenance activities to occur as scheduled
Essential Experience and Skills
8 years of mechanical repair and maintenance experience; 5 years of cement plant supervisory experience
Solid understanding of preventive/predictive/corrective maintenance principles, techniques, and technologies
Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and motivate others
Demonstrated experience in project management, creative problem-solving, strategic thinking, and decision making
Strong communication skills to ensure coordination of work and completion of tasks
Experience working with large rotating heavy industry machinery and equipment
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including MS Excel, Word, Access, and Project
Working knowledge of SAP
Work Environment
Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
