    Director of Operations

    SUMMARY: Directs, administers, and coordinates the activities of the manufacturing organization in support of corporate policies, goals, and objectives.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

    • Guides, directs and manages the overall manufacturing and operations activities of the facility including capital planning, staffing, budgeting, and ensures all activities support and drive the corporate strategic initiatives. .
    • Champions the commitment to safety of all personnel in the facility.
    • Responsible for tactical direction of facilities, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing operations, and testing.
    • Responsible for operational performance, strategic direction, and project execution for delivering operations objectives.
    • Works through managers and supervisors to maintain and improve safe, high quality and efficient operations.
    • Mentors managers, supervisors, manufacturing engineers and other manufacturing supervisory personnel.
    • Directs the preparation of short term and long range plans and budgets, and growth objectives.
    • Develops proposals for capital expenditures and makes budget recommendations for all responsible areas. Coordinates major equipment purchases, and plans and documents facilities layout for optimal utilization.
    • Responsible for managing preventative maintenance and repairs in facility. Assures the optimal functioning of all building systems and oversees outside contractors who perform repairs and provide services to the facility.
    • Evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to the Sr. VP of Manufacturing.
    • Responsible for operating a site with minimal direction.
    • Engages in leadership and development of staff and coworkers thru the principles of servant leadership
    • Represents the company in discussions with customers and suppliers.
    • Ensures that all operations are carried out in accordance with local, provincial, and federal regulations and laws governing business and employment compliance.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Requires knowledge typically acquired through:

    • Completion of a Bachelors Degree or equivalent from an accredited university or college
    • Five to ten years or more of related experience or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, the general public, and senior management.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Knowledge of the key principles and best practices in LEAN manufacturing
