    JobOverview:

    With direction and guidance from the shift supervisor, community associates will deliveron-site trauma-informed social services at city sanctuary hotels throughout Vermont. Working cooperatively with hotel operations and security staff, communityassociates will welcome and engage migrant and asylum-seeking single adults, familieswith children, or adult families (without children) as they enter the sanctuary hotel andnavigate Vermont. Community associates will complete culturally sensitiveassessments to identify strengths, barriers, and service needs; make referrals toaddress those needs; and coordinate with City agencies, immigration services, andothercommunity-based organizations.

    Responsibilities:

    Community associates will carry caseloads of 25 individuals or families and will beresponsiblefor tasksincluding,butnot limitedto, thefollowing:

    • Culturallysensitiveregistration, intake,rostertracking, andassessment
    • BilingualSpanish/Englishcasemanagement
    • Referralstocommunity-basedprograms andorganizations
    • Coordinationwithinterpretationandtranslationservices
    • ReferralstoESLinstruction
    • Referralsforchildcare
    • Medicalcarecoordination
    • Referralstoimmigrationlegalservices
    • Othertasksasnecessary tofacilitatedelivery ofnecessaryservices toclients,including storage anddistributionofpackaged meals.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelorsdegree orrelevantsocial servicesexperiencewithpeoplewhoarevulnerableand haveexperiencedsignificanttrauma
    • Excellentverbalandwritten communicationskills
    • Abilitytolearnquickly andproblem-solve
    • Strong organizationalskills
    • Abilitytoworkindependentlyandaspartofateam
    • Basic understandingofimmigrationlawsandprocedures

    Preferredqualifications:

    • Fluent inEnglishandSpanish(written andspoken)
    • Bachelorsdegreeinsocial workorotherhumanservices field+twoyearsofrelevant experience working with people who are vulnerable and haveexperiencedsignificanttrauma
    • Solid understanding of trauma and experience delivering trauma-informedservices
    • Crisisinterventionexperience
    • Knowledgeofimmigrationlawsandregulations
    • Understandingofchilddevelopmentandchildwelfare
