    RN-Assault Examiner

    Details

    • Department: SATC
    • Schedule:PRN (72 hour call)
    • Hospital: Traveling between 10 hospitals to cover all cases
    • Location:Milwaukee, WI

    This position will be a concurrent position with a RN position. This candidte would be taking on this role along with the 0.6 FTE RN role.

    Responsibilities

    Perform forensic examinations of individuals who have been sexually assaulted and provides relatedpatient care and referrals.

    • Take a medical history and account of the assault from the patient.
    • Assess the patient'spsychological condition and perform physical examination.
    • Collect and preserve all evidence, collect relevant specimens and documents findings.
    • Provide direct nursing care of injuries and prophylactic medications.
    • Refer to appropriatepersonnel/facility for further treatment as necessary.
    • Communicate with victims and their families regarding evidence collection, treatment recommendationsand reporting to law enforcement (except in cases of mandated reporting).
    • Provide victim advocacyand/or expert testimony in court trials.

    Requirements

    Licensure/Certification/Registration:

    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license ifconsidered multi-state/Compact State.
    • Certification specializing in Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner credentialed from the International Association of Forensic Nurses preferred.

    Education:

    • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
    • Completion of Sexual Assault NurseExaminer training SANE-A within 12 months and completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner trainingSANE-P within 16 months, if applicable.

    Additional Preferences

    Must be a nurse for longer than 1 yr, able to take day, evening, and weekend call hours 72 hours in a 6 week schedule. able to go to all of our locations within a 60 min notice
