Located about 9 miles from Augusta, GA, Beech Island is an unincorporated community in Aiken County, South Carolina. According to tradition, the community was first named 'Beech Highland' on account of its lofty elevation, and over time the H was dropped, causing the present name to be adopted.The plant is actually in Jackson, SC and is about 10 miles from the famous Augusta National Golf Course, home to the Masters Tournament.

Responsibilities:

Job Description:

• Support all technical aspects of Foam Thermoforming and Extrusion in the Beech Island Plant, with goals of maintaining quality and improving department profitability.
• Develops process methods and controls to meet quality and productivity standards.
• Troubleshoots mechanical, electrical equipment and process issues and provides technical leadership and training to resolve same.
• Develops, writes, implements, submits and/or presents various technical reports or CARs in support of cost reduction, reliability, repair and safety initiates.
• Lead and/or support new equipment, process, and product trials and production start-up efforts.
• Supervises Process Techs, set up person and tooling techs

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• BS in an Engineering discipline with typically 4+ years of applicable plastics manufacturing process engineering experience either sheet extrusion or thermoforming
• Will look at candidates without BS in Engineering if they have comparable experience
• Experience with Polystyrene Foam preferred
• Experience with Thermoforming platforms such as Irwin, Lyle, Brown, TSL, etc. preferred
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing processes and concepts
• Familiar with Computer Based Maintenance Management Systems
• Supervisory experience with contract personnel and technical associates
• Solid communications skills, both written and verbal, required. Able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Technical writing background preferred.
• Utilizes a variety of concepts, practices and procedures within a particular engineering field.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and establish priorities.
• Recognized as a technical leader and key resource.
