Job Summary of the CT Technologist
The CT Technologist is responsible for performing CT exams in accordance with standards and practice set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology and Radiology Department policies and procedures. The CT Tech demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy, disease processes and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic sciences, radiation protection, quality assurance, specialized techniques, and adheres to all Corporate Radiation Right policies.
Responsibilities of the CT Technologist
- Consistently produce scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from Neonatal to Geriatric age groups.
- Follow established scanning and viewing protocols.
- Operate CT scanner (any models) and related equipment efficiently and effectively.
- Complete quality scans in a timely manner, effectively organizing and prioritizing work flow to meet STAT and urgent demands while continuing to meet OP customer standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in scanning trauma, acute and challenging patients; possess skills to modify positioning and scanning factors when standard cannot be performed.
- Demonstrate knowledge of disease processes and produces studies that optimally identify related anatomy.
- Completes required documentation on forms, logs, work station and Meditech.
- Demonstrates appropriate customer service skills with all customers (patients, patients family, visitors, physicians, co-workers, etc.)
Qualifications of the CT Technologist
EDUCATION:
- Associates Degree or graduate of an accredited approved program in Radiologic Technology
- Completion of courses in computed tomography and cross-sectional anatomy
EXPERIENCE:
- Required: One year of experience as Radiology Tech in an acute care setting.
- Preferred: One year of experience performing CT procedures
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Registered Radiology Technologist (R) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Advanced Registry in Computed Tomography (CT) required upon hire
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers with American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Licensed by Texas Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist
