    Laboratory Technician II

    Our Laboratory Technician II in East Chicago, IN is responsible for the routine analysis of samples to determine their chemical and physical properties.

    • Perform preparations and analysis to produce data (results, calibrations, QC) on inbounds, in-process and outbound analysis on routine samples.
    • Perform tank analyses to verify product specification.
    • Ensure that all work meets applicable QC/QA guidelines
    • Identify data anomalies and determine when follow up is necessary
    • Understand and follow procedures (IE analytical, safety, and quality)
    • Basic troubleshooting of the instrumentation
    • Preventative maintenance in the instrumentation assigned
    • Housekeeping, inventory, and waste disposal
    • Basic statistical data calculations and input
    • Work with others to complete analytical sequences.

    What does it take to work at Safety-Kleen, a Clean Harbors Company?

    • Bachelor's Degree Science required (Chemistry first choice Physical/Life Sciences)
    • 1-3 years of lab experience preferred
    • Experience using GC for PCB, Chlorine, pH meter, and/or Karl Fischer titrator for water analysis a plus!
    • Analysis using ICP for Metals, Viscometer, Pour Point, Particle Count, NOACK preferred
    • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and written with all levels of the organization
    • Analytical mindset and detail oriented
    • Must be mindful of time management and meeting deadlines
    • Works independently as well as in a team
    • Statistical Process Control knowledge a plus!
    • Computer savvy
    • Lift up to 50lbs, climb, stoop and stand for long periods of time
