    Senior Paralegal

    This is a hybrid role working partially in-office and partially from home.

    The Senior Paralegal does not engage in the practice of law but completes various administrative and substantive legal support tasks independently and is responsible for performing work that requires significant knowledge of a variety of legal concepts, with limited supervision. This position will focus on supporting dispute resolution and litigation throughout all areas of the Ameritas enterprise. This position requires a high degree of attention to detail, organization skills and accuracy. The ideal candidate is a lifelong learner, accountable to deadlines, proactive and a team player.

    What you do

    • Regularly acts as a point of contact and interface with associates, business leaders, and persons outside of Ameritas, including outside counsel.
    • Reviews, assesses, and prepares reports, memoranda, letters, agreements, pleadings and other complex legal documents for attorney review.
    • Receives, reviews and processes summons/complaints and monitors, tracks and handles various aspects of ongoing litigation and pre-litigation disputes.
    • Coordinates discovery and fact-gathering related to litigation and third-party subpoenas, including developing, organizing, and maintaining procedures for various reports, responses to inquiries, and other requests for information.
    • Communicates with many departments and officers to obtain necessary information.
    • Processes bills, invoices, and requests for reimbursement for approval and payment, including using Legal Tracker for e-billing and matter management of litigated cases
    • Regularly handles sensitive and/or confidential materials with the utmost confidence and highest ethical standards.
    • Schedules, coordinates, and participates in meetings.
    • May prepare agendas, reports, and resolutions for board meetings and attorney review.

    What you bring

    • Associate degree or equivalent experience in Paralegal studies required; Bachelor's preferred
    • 2-4 years of experience in a Paralegal role required; litigation experience preferred
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Internet usage required; familiarity with Legal Tracker preferred
