  • Job Description

    As the Production Print Technician, you will operate mass market printers, peripheral devices and inserting and presorting equipment. You will complete the production of a variety of output media for internal and external customers. You will process several pieces of mail for distribution to the post office. You will be responsible for minor equipment maintenance to ensure effectiveness of operations. You will work onsite at our office in Madison, WI. The hours would be 5:30 am to 3:35 pm four days a week with Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday off.

    Primary Accountabilities

    Digital Printing

    You will prioritize and schedule mass-market print jobs.

    Automated mail

    You will prepare machine; clean, set up and test ink jet, replenishes ink supply, fill water reservoir, check for correct date, select correct postage, check and adjust detection, obtain needed supplies (e.g., trays, tray sleeves, APC carts, envelopes, inserts), and monitor the computerized mail processing equipment.

    Operate parcel postage and shipping computer system for processing overnight mail.

    Use the PC and machine control software to access preprogrammed job files on the inserters. Selects and loads the jobs for processing. Manually or mechanically makes adjustments to correspond with daily work, accounting for changes to preprogrammed jobs.

    Manual Mail

    You will receive and sort incoming mail from the post office.

    Consolidate mail and send to appropriate mail stops and buildings by ETV cars and Traffic delivery. Handle registered, certified mail/proof of mail by determining correct postage, processing manifests to ensure all pieces are accounted for, applying correct postage, filing returned manifests, and proof of mailing cards.

    Reroute correspondence and returned mail by forwarding to the original source.

    Quality Control

    You will assume responsibility for Quality Control by overseeing work and systems, ensuring that our organization's products meet company quality and accuracy standards and legal requirements.

    Travel Requirements

    • This position requires travel up to 10% of the time.

    Education & Licenses

    • Power Industrial Truck training and certification.

    Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

    • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions or support.

    • 2+ years of computer experience

    • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies as they develop.

    • Solid communication skills.

    • Basic knowledge of USPS regulations and UPS requirements.

    This is a physical position requiring manual work to maneuver large rolls of paper.

    Prior experience working with printing machines preferred, specifically 5000 Printer

    You will report to the Production Print Operations Manager.
