    Job Summary

    As the Business Applications Team Lead, you will provide oversight for projects, organize and delegate tasks, and provide regular status reports on project health and progress.

    Job Description

    We are looking for a Business Applications Team Lead to join our team. This opportunity is a full-time 12 month+ long contract that is hybrid in Long Beach, CA.


    What Youll Do

    • Provide oversight for projects with broad scope, ambiguity, and high degree of difficulty while also supervising and supporting other business application team members

    • Expert in demonstrating proficiency in a wide range of business application technologies and platforms

    • Expert with a high level of analytical ability where problems are typically unusual and difficult - gather and interpret complex qualitative or quantitative data

    • Understand program structure, launch plan and timing, and program ownership

    • Work with project teams that include POLB teammates and one or more vendor teams in the development of business applications and business systems for the Port

    • Combining both management skills and specific information technology system knowledge, support the delivery of projects through their lifecycles, with the goal of completion within specified time and budget constraints

    • Organize and delegate tasks, and bring together ideas of team members

    • Monitor project costs and schedules while maintaining an appropriate level of quality in deliverables

    • Provide regular status reports on project health and progress.

    • Identify and communicate any roadblocks/risks, and escalate as needed to the project sponsor and/or IM management


    What Youll Need

    Required

    • Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, management information systems or equivalent

    • 15+ years of overall IT and project management experience

    • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment

    • Experience with Oracle Primavera Unifier and P6, MS CRM, Web Applications and SharePoint is desirable

    • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management

    • Experienced with using project management techniques and tools

    • Proven experience in people management, risk management and issue management

    • Must possess flexibility, assertiveness, approachability, foresight, and ability to handle stressful situations

    • Structured project experience and an understanding of a variety of project and portfolio management methodologies, processes and best practices

    • Experience in managing a variety of enterprise business application projects including cloud implementations and upgrades

    • Experience managing both custom and package software solutions

    • Ability to handle ambiguity and make decisions and recommendations with limited data

    • Solid analytical / problem-solving skills with capability to identify solutions to unusual and complex problems

    • Strong understanding of software development life cycle processes

    • System integration experience with requirements, design, testing and implementation

    • Experience creating and presenting executive communications

    • Experience creating business cases

    • Experience creating RFPs and managing vendor and / or software selection process

    • Experience with vendor contract processes

    • Experience with managing software licensing and renewals

    • Supervisory experience including hiring, performance reviews, coaching, and mentoring


    Desired

    • MBA is desirable

    • PMP certification is desirable

    • ITIL certification is desirable


    Physical Demands

    • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

    • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

    • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard and monitor
