    NPD Electrical Engineer

    Scope of Position:

    Working under the direction of the NPD Manager, is responsible to develop, design, and test new products. Will manage projects to completion and assume overall responsibility for meeting target dates and target costs. Will be assisted by the Mechanical Design Engineer and will work in a team with production engineering and plant personnel.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Evaluation and written response to a product definition document, assessing the technical feasibility of the proposed project.
    • Performing all necessary engineering performance calculations
    • Development of conceptual drawings
    • Directing construction of prototypes
    • Developing and conducting tests to establish prototype design compliance with known standards and good engineering practice
    • Development of the bills of materials for the new product
    • Providing engineering performance data for the final product configuration in support of marketing literature development
    • Coordinating agency testing and obtaining agency approvals for the new product
    • Final product testing and agency approval testing might require travel to manage set up and testing of the product.
    • Conforms to all Quality and Environmental Management System policies, objectives and obligations.
    • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Position Requirements:

    • Areas of design engineering knowledge required include, but are not limited to:
    • Sizing and selection of electrical power components for circuits up to and including 575v/3ph
    • Low voltage electromechanical control circuit design
    • PLC and microprocessor-based control circuit design
    • Basic understanding of high voltage conversion for use in computer facility power distribution
    • DDC controls and rudimentary programming
    • Sufficient knowledge of CAD design tools to allow development of prototype drawings.
    • Good communication skills
    • High technical proficiency
    • Intense focus on details
    • Good organizational skills
    • The ability to manage multiple projects in a stand-alone work environment.
    • 1-5 years of experience
    • Electrical engineering or similar degree.
