    Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Civil Engineer Intern Student to join our team in Calgary, AB. We are looking for a Civil Engineer Co-Op Student to join us for a 16 month opportunity beginning in May 2024 - September 2025.

    What youll get to do

    • You will be exposed to the construction industry from the point of view of a material supplier/manufacturer
    • You will be exposed to work related situations in both the office and the manufacturing floor
    • Use AutoCAD to create drawings for external approval and engineering, internal production, or for general layout purposes of underground services
    • Assist in training incoming intern(s) to prepare them for their job duties.
    • Assist engineering, production and sales staff, as required during the busy season with special projects
    • Keep your own work area and files organized and manage and track work required for new projects or projects with changes
    • Assist with daily or occasional quality control related tasks, such as sieve analysis, file delimiting, and general data collection and inspection
    • Learn to visually identify each different product we produce and what its basic function is
    • You will have opportunity to gain knowledge of the manufacturing techniques used for each product and the advantages or disadvantages of each system
    • Learn to read and interpret underground utility construction drawings issued by consultants, and how to identify products or alternatives that we can supply
    • Provide quantity take offs from engineer-issued construction drawings, which will form the basis of quotations to our clients from issued construction drawings
    • You will interact with and collaborate and collaborate with Engineers, Sales and Production personnel

    Essential Experience and Skills

    • Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, and at least in their 2nd - 3rd year of university
    • Can-do attitude

    Preferred Experience and Skills

    • AutoCAD knowledge and experience are preferred, but not required
    • Programming knowledge is an asset (i.e. Visual Basic)
