  • Job Description

    Objectives:
    • Increase operational effectiveness of the shipping function as measured by Safety, Quality, Delivery, Costs, and Inventory (SQDCI)
    • Enforce safety & general housekeeping; compliant forklift, pallet, and equipment operation
    • Proper unloading, receipt, labeling and storage of incoming pallets
    • Accurate pallet picking, inventory scanning, and load scheduling
    • Effective staging of raw pallets and material flow through the warehouse
    • Allocate resources to meet incoming and outgoing schedule needs
    • Reduce operating costs by improving process flow, eliminating duplicate steps, and seeking employee input for better job performance
    • Establish & continuously communicate clear standard operating procedures for all processes within the shipping & receiving function
    • Continuously train and develop team members on how to successfully perform their job, hit performance goals, and work safely
    • Provide team leaders clear instructions for incoming and outgoing loads/pallets that require special, rush or seasonal handling to minimize errors and ensure smooth flow of work
    • Implement standard work in communications to 1) clarify accountabilities and expectations for team members and 2) establish consistent on-going use of leader check-ins with associates
    • Operate with internal customer needs (voice of the customer) in mind; pallets unloaded to facilitate easy inventory and staging of product in warehouse and at store

    Essential Functions:

    Use software to track, check, prioritize and route deliveries

    Develops daily checklists and capture performance data

    Maintains shipping standards while adhering to CCM Policy and Objectives

    Responsible for collecting shipping data and identifying variances compared to CCM standards

    Manage all important documents such as advanced shipping notice, load sheets, bills of lading etc.

    Direct the flow of merchandise from pulling to staging to shipment

    Inspect labels, barcodes and other features of completed orders (Pallet tickets, load sheets etc.)

    Supervise and lead subordinates (shipping and receiving clerks, order pickers, dock workers etc.)

    Collaborate with other warehouse departments and other managers to optimize processes

    Ensure quality of shipments before they are sent out

    Responsible for maintaining company Health and Safety including OSHA standards, and promotes Safety standards

    Coordinates training of new employees, current employees and labor management

    Executes SOPs and hold your team accountable, including progressive discipline when necessary

    Manages employee time and attendance, and updates hours appropriately

    Completes and revises daily end of shift reports

    Provides feedback to develop employees and future leaders

    Updates and communicates labor needs regularly

    Ensure compliance to legal regulations and company policies

    Report to warehouse management on activities and issues

    Requirements

    Proven experience as a shipping manager

    Solid knowledge of logistics procedures

    Computer savvy with excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)

    Excellent organizational and communication skills

    Problem-solving abilities

    Communicate updates and needs to warehouse customer, and carriers

    Must be accurate with attention to detail.

    Ability to work a flexible schedule (until work is done), including nights, weekends, and holidays

    Load the right truck with the right pallet (RTRP) program adherence

    Physical Requirements:

    Must have ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

    Ability to squat, kneel and balance

    Must have ability to stand, or sit, for extended periods (entire shift) and to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures.

    Ability to bend and twist frequently

    High School Diploma or equivalent

    3-5 years shipping management preferred

    Working Conditions:
    • Routinely work near moving mechanical parts such as vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies or similar mechanical devices
    • Willing to work in hot and cold conditions
    • Moderate to loud noise levels
