    Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. located in Klingerstown, Pennyslvania known for their ice cream socials at Klingerstown Lutheran Parish, fishing rodeo, and fireman's parade. Responsibilities:

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This position has the responsibility to always comply with Safety work rules as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

    The purpose of the Supervisor, under direction of the Production manager, is to lead and oversee employees and production, ensure all procedures are followed and cleanliness is maintained. All customers and coworkers benefit from the work done by the supervisor ensuring products pass all customer and company specifications in a timely manner.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.

    Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.

    Produces the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost consistent with good manufacturing practices.

    Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems in order to minimize their impact on the operations.

    Requests and directs services of maintenance, sanitation and other personnel as may be necessary to achieve the desired level and quality of production, sanitation, safety, and warehouse services.

    Collaborates with other departments to ensure solid work relationships always exist.

    Responsible for ingredient usage and all other department costs.

    Keeps accurate and up-to-date records (i.e. Kronos Timecard system, downtime records, absentee records, etc.)

    Enforces company policies in a fair and consistent manner.

    Encourages suggestions from employees that improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.

    Keeps Production Manager informed on operating and/or employee problems, which may require their attention or knowledge. The supervisor will fill in for the production manager as needed.

    Consistently conducts employee safety training, job training, and holds monthly line meetings.

    Responsible for investigation and reporting of all departmental safety related near miss/damage, injury/ illness documentation to Safety department.

    Participate with monthly internal audits and Safety Risk Management Practices (SRMP) activities. Lead or Co-Lead a SRMP element team.

    Conducts Engage 90 employee onboarding, monthly employee safety trainings, job training and perform daily line huddles.

    Maintains consistent communications and monthly department meetings.

    Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF Level 3 certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.

    Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.

    May make decisions and perform the job responsibilities of the Production Manager in their absence.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors, or employees of the organization.

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.

    Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification

    Drivers license

    PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

    Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Business Management, or related field with 1 to 2 years supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties.

    Excellent communication and leadership skills.

    Bilingual (Spanish/English).

    Able to train and motivate department personnel.

    Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Power Point), Basic SAP experience is a plus.

    Coordinate and supervise all department functions.

    Able to supervise department personnel in a fair and consistent manner.

    Must be able to work overtime or weekends when required.

    Be able to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve.

    Be a self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently.

    Have work scheduling flexibility with the ability to work some weekend.
